Business Review Weekly: BRW
Useful for ranked lists of companies and background profiles of Australian companies. A search facility is also available at the BRW web site.

Includes background articles about Australian companies of significance from an investor's point of view.

Australian Financial Review
A good source of Australian company news. The State Library holds microfilm copies from 1951 onwards.  A useful archive search facility, for subscribers only, is also available on the AFR web site.

Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia
CCIWA is a not for profit organisation with membership open to Western Australian businesses of any size, and is an influential lobby group and source of contacts for members.

Government

Australian Securities and Investments Commission
The ASIC site includes information on consumer scams and swindles, banned and disqualified company directors and other professional registers, and useful company search facilities such as the National Names Index. This is an index of Australian corporate and business names which provides free, very basic information on any company or business name registered in Australia (more information is available for a fee).

Austrade: Australian Suppliers
Provides information on Australian companies with export capability. Search by product keyword, product category, or company name.

Australian Consumer and Competition Commission (ACCC) 
The ACCC is the national agency dealing generally with competition matters.  The ACCC is also responsible for enforcing the Trade Practices Act and associated state legislation.  Their web site contains information on unfair market practices, mergers and acquisitions, product safety and consumer protection.

Information about companies listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) is included on this site together with links to more detailed information. Forthcoming floats, share prices, and recent company announcements are also available.

A good source for identifying articles about companies. Covers Australian newspapers and some magazines. ABIX can be accessed via workstations in the Alexander Library Building.

Business Source Premier
A popular business research database providing information on detailed company profiles for the world's 10,000 largest companies. Business Source Premier can be accessed via workstations in the Alexander Library Building.

DatAnalysis
Covers all Australian listed companies and gives a comprehensive review of each company's operations since listing, with extracts from up to 10 years of financial statements, and announcements to the Australian Securities Exchange.  Delisted companies and archived announcements is also available. DatAnalysis can be accessed via workstations in the Alexander Library Building.
