Book Clubs are a flourishing "grass roots" literary movement which serve as a meeting ground for like minds and divergent opinions. Perth's cafe society has provided a recent catalyst with a different spin.  Here are just a few that have been documented, among the many.

McFarleane House Learning Centre
Hosts both a book club and creative writing activities.

South Perth Learning Centre
The book club forms part of this self-funded community organisation.

University of the Third Age (U3A)
Formed to defeat the misconception that intellectual life declines in later life, the umbrella organisation has many chapters, some of which sponsor book clubs, such as the Geraldton Chapter.

Emphasis is on creating a community feeling.

As well as having "parented" over 20 book clubs, the Well offers author-as-guest services, a lending library, an on-line chat room and reviews on its web site.
