ADE and Mobile Devices

EBL is one of the only major ebook providers which enables downloading to Adobe Digital Editions and so is among the first to be able to offer downloads to reader devices!

Adobe Digital Editions

Adobe Digital Editions supports both ebook and PDF viewing.  EBL uses Adobe Reader to enable ebook downloading.  Versions 8.0 and newer of Adobe Reader require the separate installation of Adobe Digital Editions (ADE).  To see a list of all ebook readers compatible with ADE, visit the ADE website

Note that prices vary and suitability depends on the context in which the reading device is being used. Not all readers are available worldwide and this list identifies availability by geography.

Mobile devices

Any mobile device that supports Adobe Digital Editions will be able to be used to read EBL ebooks. Adobe provides support for many mobile devices.

  • Sony Reader PRS-505 and PRS-700 are compatible with EBL ebooks.
Sony Reader and Adobe announced the release of Digital Editions firmware which can be loaded onto the Sony Reader PR505 and the new PR700. As EBL download uses Adobe Digital Editions, EBL ebooks can now be loaded onto Sony Reader devices.
  • EBL titles are accessible on an iPhone, iPad, Android and iPod Touch
Patrons can access EBL titles on their iPhone or iPod Touch through normal webpages. The image view in the EBL Online Reader will render the full book. Using the Bluefire Reader app, EBL ebooks are downloadable too.
  • Adobe has a partnership with Stanza Reader, the reader application designed for the iPhone.
