• Australian Financial Review
  A good source of Australian company news. The State Library holds microfilm copies from 1951 onwards.

Electronic Resources

There are a number of electronic resources available for business research in the State Library. Search results from these resources may be printed; downloaded to a thumb drive or CD-ROM;  or emailed your own computer (subject to the licence agreements and software functionality of individual databases). Electronic resources are also available, with membership, from the National Library of Australia.

• The IBISWorld database offers a collection of industry market research, industry risk ratings and company research. This source of Australian business information provides independent and accurate research on over 500 industries and Australia's top 2000 companies.
  Access: available at the State Library of Western Australia (SLWA) and with SLWA membership from your own computer. 
  

• Annual Reports On Line
  Aspect Financial Pty Ltd. This research tool offers access to Australian company annual reports dating back to 1995. It also provides access to the full documentation of Australian Stock Exchange announcements from October 1998 to today including prospectuses. These announcements are updated continually throughout the day.
  Access: available with membership from the eResources of the National Library of Australia (NLA). Available for document delivery from the NLA to Australian libraries.
  

• Australian Business to Business (Australian B2B)
  JPM Media: Australian Business to Business is a guide to exporting Australian companies and the products and services that they sell. Formerly known as Australian Exporters and Manufacturers, Australian B2B has been published since 1964 and includes details on over 47 000 companies and over 56 000 executive names. Published by JPM Media this database contributes to the Komapss global network of databases.
  Access: Available with membership from the eResources of the National Library of Australia (NLA).   

• Factiva (Australian and Overseas newspapers)
  Dow Jones: Factiva (Dow Jones and Proquest) provides access to global news and business information as well as full text coverage of major Australian and international newspapers and journals. Same-day news wires, company reports, investment analyst reports, market research reports, country and regional profiles, company profiles, and historical market data are also provided. Coverage of individual publications varies widely.

• Business Source Premier (EBSCOHost)
  Contains information from the international business literature relating to all aspects of business and industry. It includes full text articles, industry reports and company profiles.

Annual Reports/Company Announcements

The State Library holds a large number of annual reports from Australian companies in a variety of formats. The main collections and access points are listed below. Companies often post copies of their annual reports on their website. Try searching the company name as a phrase in a search engine.

• Annual Reports On Line
  Aspect Financial Pty Ltd. This research tool offers access to Australian company annual reports dating back to 1995. It also provides access to the full documentation of Australian Stock Exchange announcements from October 1998 to today including prospectuses. These announcements are updated continually throughout the day.
  Access: Available with membership from the eResources of the National Library of Australia (NLA).
  Available for document delivery from the NLA to Australian libraries.   
  
  
• Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) Annoucements Collection
  A significant collection of Australian company announcements, including annual reports of listed/delisted public companies. This collection covers the periods 1989-1994 on microfiche and 1980-1996 on CD-Rom.  Very useful for older information not yet on Datanalysis.  
  
  
• Annual Report File (Australian Graduate School of Management)
  Covers annual reports from Australia's top 500 listed companies and New Zealand's top listed  companies. The Library holds reports from 1980-1994 on microfiche and 1994-1997 on CD-ROM.

• ASIC National Names Index
  Index of Australian corporate and business names which provides free, very basic information on any company or business name registered in Australia (more information is available for a fee).  
  
  
• Austrade: Australian Suppliers
  Provides information on Australian companies with export capability. Search by product keyword, product category, or company name.  
  
  
• Australian Business Entry Point ABN Lookup
   Provides access to the publicly available information provided by businesses when they register for an Australian Business Number (ABN). 
  
  
• National Business Names Register 
  Make enquiries about a current or previously registered business name in Western Australia.

• Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia
  CCIWA is a not for profit organisation with membership open to Western Australian businesses of any size, and is an influential lobby group and source of contacts for members.
