Overseas

Investigating unclaimed moneys in countries other than Australia varies according to the country's legislation and government. There are many useful government directories at the State Library to assist you find the relevant country's government offices. The most frequently used is the Europa World Year Book.

Agents to Assist with Locating Unclaimed Money

Typically these agents do not advertise their business but use the government unclaimed money registers to obtain clients. Contact is made usually by letter from these agents advising those on the registers of their entitlements. Fees for the service vary widely from agent to agent. Information on the role of investigators and agents is available from the Western Australian Treasury website.  Make sure the agent is genuine - read up on avoiding Scams and Hoaxes before you send them any of your money.
