Newspapers are a wonderful source of biographical information. They can also help explore the social history of a particular time and place, leading to a richer and more interesting family history.
Online
The Digitised newspapers and more section of Trove on the National Library of Australia's website includes many digitised newspapers for the Northern Territory up to 1954. We recommend using the Advanced Search feature which gives you more search options.
Library holdings
We hold the following newspaper titles for the Northern Territory. The Centralian Advocate is available in the Genealogy Centre on the 1st floor and the Northern Territory News is held in the stack area. To view issues of the latter title you will need to make a request through our online request system. Please ask staff if you need help.
