Scores for Loan
Whether you're a budding James Morrison or Barry Tuckwell, you will find something of interest in the State Library's collection of scores for all brass instruments. There is music for trumpet, horn, trombone and tuba as well as material for euphonium and baritone.
The collection includes studies and exercises, orchestral excerpts, sonatas, concerto reductions and jazz, as well as music originally written for these instruments and arrangements of other works. We collect most works listed from Grade 4 and above in the Australian Music Examinations Board syllabuses for all orchestral brass instruments. We also collect chamber music for brass and mixed ensembles, from duets to brass choirs, as well as band and orchestral music. All brass music can be found on the shelves at the classification W.
Reference Material
The reference collection of books, journals and electronic resources about music includes volumes on instrument making, maintenance and repair, technique, composers and performers, history, analysis and bibliographies.
Recordings
We hold a collection of CDs and LPs that can be listened to on-site. You can also listen to tracks using the on-line database Naxos Music Library. There is a small classical and jazz loan collection of audio cassettes available.
