Picture Books

Some of these books are for older readers and some are information books with illustrations. Many of the authors write across age groups. It is suggested that you have a look at the book or read the description in the library catalogue before selecting it for your child.

  • JK means the book is for younger children
  • JF is for older children

Click on the author or illustrator's name and then the title of the book to find more information about it, and the public libraries in which it can be found. You can request it from another library if it is not available at your local library.

Jan Ormerod  
Based in the UK, Jan was born in WA and the Australian landscape and people still inform her writing and illustrations. Look out for Lizzie Nonsense and Shake a Leg.

Matt Ottley   (website)
Acclaimed author and illustrator who has won the Picture Book of the Year award. Some of his titles are for older children.

Jan Ramage   (website)
Writes stories inspired by nature, from stranded whales to tuart trees and native animals.

Azmen Sebastian   (website)
Young writer published at 12 years old, and his colourful illustrations reflect his home in Broome.

Liliana Stafford   (website)
This author writes for all ages, from picture books to novels for younger and older readers.
