The State Library holds many books which provide details of the animals, insects and plants of Western Australia. A small selection can be found below and others can be located in the State Library Catalogue.

Published in 1995, this book contains details of habitat, a description, general information and a colour photograph of snakes, lizards and frogs of the Perth area.
Fungi of Southern Australia / by Neale L. Bougher, illustrated by Katrina Syme
Published in 1998, this book contains detailed descriptions of the fungi of southern Australia and a colour illustration of each type.
Eucalypts of Western Australia / by C.A. Gardner
First published in 1979 and reprinted in 1987, this book contains a detailed description of eucalypts and drawings showing features such as leaves, nuts, flowers, branches, etc.
Spiders / by Barbara York Main
First published in 1976 and reprinted in 1984, this book describes various types of spiders found in Australia in detail and contains many drawings and photographs of spiders.
Handbook of Western Australian Birds / by R.E. Johnstone and G.M. Storr
Published in 1998, this book describes each bird in detail, providing a description and details of habitat, distribution, status, food, breeding, behaviour, measurements and relationships. It contains many maps, drawings of birds and colour photographs of eggs.
Fishes of Western Australia / by Gerald R. Allen
Published in 1985, this book describes the various families of fish found off the coast of WA and contains many colour photographs.
Flora of the Perth Region / by N. G. Marchant ... [et al.]
Published in 1987, this two volume work describes the flora of the Perth region in detail with many drawings of plants and parts of plants.
Sea Slugs and their Relatives of Western Australia / by Fred E. Wells and Clayton W. Bryce
Published in 1993, this book describes the various sea slugs found off the coast of WA and is illustrated with many colour photographs.
The Banksias / Celia E. Rosser and Alexander S. George
Published from 1981, this 3 volume set describe the banksias of WA and contain many beautiful colour paintings of banksias.
