This site is an excellent first stop for information on migration, citizenship, working visits or study visits to Australia, and much more. Key documents are available in other languages and forms can be downloaded. Also includes links to relevant legislation and explanatory fact sheets.

LBC Immigration Service
Legislation, regulations and cases relevant to immigration law can be found in this CD-ROM database. Also includes the Immigration Department's Procedure Advice Manual.

Immigration Kit - a Practical Guide to Australia's Immigration Law
Best practical commentary on immigration law for the general reader. Covers every aspect of the law in clear language.

Immigration and Refugee Law in Australia
This recently published book is widely available through Western Australian public libraries.  Covers the main areas and trends in immigration law with particular reference to decisions by the specialist migration tribunals.

Informit Databases
These databases provide information about immigration law published in magazine articles, conference proceedings, etc. From the Informit menu select databases such as AGIS (Attorney-General's Information Service) and APAIS (Australian Public Affairs Information Service).

Newly arrived migrants and refugees can obtain information from this section of the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs.

Law Society of Western Australia
A directory of law firms and community legal centres is maintained on the Law Society's web site. Community Legal Centres are independent, non-profit organisations that provide legal and welfare services.

Legal Aid Western Australia
Information on Legal Aid's immigration service to people in the Australian community.

Multicultural Services Centre of Western Australia Inc.
The Centre offers a range of services for migrants including legal services.

Citizens Advice Bureau Legal Service
The CAB Legal Advice Service can offer a 20 minute appointment with a lawyer for a standard fee. Non-English speaking clients can be catered for.

Catholic Migrant Centre
The Catholic Migrant Centre is a registered agency for immigration advice. Staff offer information and advice on matters such as sponsorship of families as well as immigration and refugee issues.

Refugee Council of Australia
The Refugee Council is a non-profit, non-government organisation that provides information on, and advocacy for, refugees and humanitarian entrants to Australia.

National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition
Provides information and advice on skills assessment and recognition including assessment of overseas qualifications.

Trades Recognition Australia
TRA provides assessment and recognition for most trades for people applying to migrate to Australia. Their web site offers information, application forms and contact details.
