University of Western Australia, School of Music
The School of Music houses the Wigmore Music Library, the Eileen Joyce Studio (which has a collection of early and modern keyboard instruments), an electronic studio and the Callaway International Resource Centre [CIRCME]. The web site includes information on undergraduate and postgraduate courses in music, staff, concert diary and links to the Wigmore Music Library, CIRCME, University Music Society, Western Australian Institute of Music and the Perth Undergraduate Choral Society.
Callaway International Resource Centre [CIRCME]
This Centre is housed at the School of Music at the University of Western Australia. It provides access to music education materials throughout the world for music teachers involved in research projects. The library has a growing collection of music by Australian composers. It also includes a unique collection of music education materials covering correspondence, publications and the library of Emeritus Professor Sir Frank Callaway. The web site contents include 'what's new', biographical information on Frank Callaway, Frank Callaway Foundation for Music, location, people, aims, communication, special collections, catalogue and archival information, research and related projects and publications.

Edith Cowan University/Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts [WAAPA]
The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts is part of Edith Cowan University. It is situated at the Mt Lawley campus and incorporates the Western Australian Conservatorium of Music, founded in 1985. Check the web site for information on the Conservatorium's renown undergraduate and postgraduate courses in classical music, jazz, commercial music and music education.
Technical and Further Education [TAFE]
TAFE provides technical training and further education for adults. There are TAFE Colleges throughout the Perth Metropolitan area and in the country. Australian Society for Music Education [ASME]
The Australian Society for Music Education was established in 1967. Its purpose is to promote music education as an integral part of education and life. The ASME web site provides information on membership, conferences, Bibliography of Australian Music Education Research (BAMER) and publications. Australian Music Examination Board [AMEB]
Established in 1887 when a series of music examinations was initiated by the Universities of Adelaide and Melbourne. In Western Australia the AMEB is conducted through the University of Western Australia. The AMEB has developed a comprehensive system of evaluation in all major areas of music, as well as speech and drama. Examination levels range from Preliminary Grade through to Grade 8 levels in most instruments. The AMEB web site looks smart. It includes information on history, Federal Board, state committees, contacts and examiners. It also details examinations, the international program, publications, teacher support and performances. A hard copy of the Syllabus is also available.
International Directory of Music Education
Published in Western Australia by the Callaway International Resource Centre for Music Education, this three volume set provides details of universities, colleges and schools with music programs in over 120 countries with special emphasis given to Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. Music education qualifications are listed for each body.
Directory of Teachers
It's never too late to learn a musical instrument. The West Australian Music Teachers' Association publishes this booklet which is an excellent listing of music teachers of all instruments in most Perth suburbs.
