Western Australian Premier's Book Awards - 1999 Judging Panel

Professor David Black
David Black is Associate Professor in History and Politics at Curtin University of Technology. He has written and edited many books about politics and the Parliament in Western Australia, and is Chairman of the Parliamentary History Advisory Committee. Since 1972 Professor Black has been a regular commentator on elections and politics for the ABC.

Mr Andre Malan
Andre Malan is a columnist and feature writer on The West Australian. He has worked on newspapers for more than 30 years in a range of positions including News editor, Features editor, Books editor and Asia desk chief.

Ms Jill Midolo
During her 30-year career as a Teacher Librarian, Jill Midolo has always been vitally concerned with the promotion of books and reading. She currently writes and edits curriculum journals, annotated bibliographies and Web content for Curriculum Materials Information Services Evaluation at the Education Department of Western Australia. She has just completed a two-year term as the WA judge for the Children's Book Council annual awards.

Ms Terri-ann White
Terri-ann White writes fiction and teaches Creative Writing at the University of Western Australia. Her stories and other writing have been published widely, and a collection entitled Night and Day was released by Fremantle Arts Centre Press in 1994. Over the past 10 years, she has been a passionate collaborator with other artists: dancers, visual artists, musicians.
