The celebration of 50
years of the Perth International Arts Festival features
a number of major attractions to showcase this special
year, in addition to the line up of theatre, dance,
music and film.
Antony
Gormley - Inside Australia at Lake Ballard
An installation of abstracted steel figures standing
in a 7 square kilometre area of Lake Ballard.
"It is an attempt at the sublime,
to engage with big sky, big space, time beyond mind
and space, beyond the limits of perception." (Antony
Gormley)
Genesis - From
the Museum of Sleep
Remarkable theatre-making that merges stories from the
Bible with our own human history, with each of three
acts evoking focal moments of creation and destruction.
Götterdammerung
(Twilight of the Gods)
The Twilight of the Gods is considered to be the finest
of The Ring Cycle works by Richard Wagner, and will
be presented in association with the WA Opera Company
and WA Symphony orchestra in the Perth Concert Hall
on Thursday 13 February and Saturday 15 February.
Incognita
Incognita is a major new work by the Stalker Theatre
company comprising dance, acrobatics, theatre and aerial
choreography exploring the seared landscape of the Australian
interior. It will be performed at the Midland Railways
workshops from 9 - 16 February.
