The 2003 Perth International
Arts Festival has a strong emphasis on opera and music.
Götterdämmerung
(Twilight of the Gods)
The Twilight of the Gods is considered to be the finest
of The Ring Cycle works by Richard Wagner, and will
be presented in association with the WA Opera Company
and WA Symphony orchestra in the Perth Concert Hall
on Thursday 13 February and Saturday 15 February.
Gurrelieder by Arnold Schoenberg
The Gurrelieder by Arnold Schoenberg is one of the richest
romantic works ever realised and will be presented in
association with the Australian Youth Orchestra on Sunday
26 January at the Perth Concert Hall.
Three Tales by Steve Reich
and Beryl Korot
Three Tales premiered in Vienna in June 2002 to critical
acclaim and heralds the beginning of 21st century opera.
It is a digital video-opera about three well know historical
events of the 20th century that reflect upon the implication
of technology on our lives. The Australian Premier will
be on 14 & 15 February exclusive to Mandurah.
Marianne Faithfull
Few stars of the '60s have reinvented themselves as
successfully as Marianne Faithfull.

Laurie Anderson
Laurie Anderson is an electrifing performer who has
created large-scale theatrical works which combine a
variety of media - music, video, storytelling, projected
imagery and sculpture. Her current tour is entitled
"Happiness".
Plena Libre
The Pueto Rican group Plena Libre will be appearing
at the Opening Night Party on Wednesday 22 January and
on 23 January at the Watershed.
