The 2003 Perth International Arts Festival showcases theatre and dance from around the globe.

Genesis from the Museum of Sleep
Performed by Europe's leading Theatre company, Societas Raffaelo Sanzio, Genesis from the Museum of Sleep is a visionary piece of theatre that explores the history of mankind which will be performed at his Majesty's Theatre 29 January - 1 February.

Incognita
Incognita is a major new work by the Stalker Theatre company comprising dance, acrobatics, theatre and aerial choreography exploring the seared landscape of the Australian interior. It will be performed at the Midland Railways workshops from 9 - 16 February.

Black Chicks Talking
A powerful story of young indigenous women living and dreaming in modern Australia. Black chicks talking is an emotional rollercoaster of a play that brings the audience along with the five chicks as they explore their Aboriginality, aspirations and struggles. Black chicks talking will be playing at the Festival Theatre at Midland from 31 January - 4 February.

A Night in November
This stunning new production marks the first visit to Australia by the Lyric Theatre Belfast. Described as uproariously funny and as one of the most powerful stage performances about the destructive nature of prejudice, A night in November is a must see and will be playing at the Octagon Theatre, UWA 31 January - 3 February and at the Festival Theatre at Midland 6 - 8 February.

Beasty Grrrl
Errol Flynn, biggest name in movies of the 1930s and 1940s most recognisable face of his generation now lays buried in an unmarked grave. Beasty Grrrl tells the tale of Flynn's life, through the eyes of a woman who claims to be his illegitimate child... Beasty Grrrl will be playing at the Regal Theatre in Subiaco from 7 - 15 February {excluding Sunday 9 February}.

Nixon's Nixon
August 7th, 1974, the night before the resignation of the world's most powerful man - Richard Nixon. This piece steps inside the secret life of the President of the United States exposing the political intrigue, scandal and corruption lurking in the corridors of power. Nixon's Nixon will be playing at His Majesty's Theatre 20 - 25 January.

Noh Theatre
Noh is precision theatre combining the elements of dance, music, masked song and poetry. Drawn from the stories Tamura, Boshibari (Kyogen Interlude) and Shakkyo, Noh Theatre will be performed by the Japanese Noh Theatre Grand Masters. This is one of the world's oldest forms of theatre and will be performed at Sir James Mitchell Park, South Perth foreshore on 11-12 February at 8pm.

The Cat Who Ran
Brought to us by the Barking Gecko Theatre company in collaboration with Theatre Seigei (Japan), this play is a story about a friendship between a cat and a goldfish and their adventures together. The Cat Who Ran is brilliant theatre which will be enjoyed by the whole family. The Cat Who Ran will be performed 29 January - 21 February at the Japanese Gardens in the Perth Zoo.

The Corporal's Wife
The fundamentals of life. Who can avoid them? In this earthy entertainment from Dubrovnik a dysfunctional family is trying to marry off their youngest daughter. Based on the Croatian epic Kate Kapurlica by Vlaho Stulli, this work will be performed for the first time outside of Croatia in this new English adaptation. The Corporal's Wife will be played at the New Fortune Theatre, UWA from 8 - 15 February.

The Island
South Africa's notorious Robben Island prison held Nelson Mandela prisoner for 27 years until 1990. The Island tells the tale of two prisoners labouring in the prison quarry by day and rehearsing scenes from Sophocles' Antigone by night, for the prison concert. Black Swan Theatre is proud to present The Island at the Dolphin Theatre, UWA, from 7 - 22 February.

Soobee Jeffree
Soobee & Jeffree will entertain you with their highly skilful clowning acts. A combination of Mozart and Fellini with a charm and a pinch of eccentricity. Even better... It's FREE!! Soobee & Jeffree will be performing in the Perth Cultural Precinct on February 8-9 & 14-15 at 2:30pm, 3:30pm & 5:30pm.

Bog Lap
Fuel injected, testosterone driven slapstick drive-by theatre. Bog lap is presented by Bizircus and can be seen in the Perth Cultural Precinct & Northbridge streets at 3:30pm, 6pm & 7:30pm on 25 January, 1, 8 & 15 February. And yes! Bog Lap is FREE as well! VVRRrrrroooom!

The West Australian Ballet Company will present an exciting program of dance, including two world premieres and two Australian premieres. They will be performing at the Quarry Amphitheatre from 12 - 25 February.

STRUT
STRUT showcases contemporary dance in three programmes of new works by independent Western Australian choreographers and dance artists. The programmes extend from Wednesday 29 January - 8 February, and will be performed at the Playhouse and the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts.
