When we receive your request we will provide you with up to sixty (60) minutes research time and endeavour to respond to your request within 5 to 10 working days.

The response could be:

• the exact answer to a question of fact
• a list of books, articles or URLs on a question of broader scope
• where appropriate, a referral to another organisation.

We are unable to:

• do on-going* or in-depth research
• do lengthy newspaper searching
• provide research for student assignments; we can however offer advice and suggestions for further reading.
• respond to enquiries which do not include an address and one other form of contact

* Our free service can be provided up to four times in a twelve month period for any one individual, this is to ensure an equitable service for all patrons.

We are committed to:

• providing a free service
• delivering timely, relevant, accurate and courteous responses to enquiries. Client requests are answered with available State Library resources where possible, however resources available in other libraries, institutions, organisations and online will form part of the referral should this be required.

The research assistance service is only available during normal office hours i.e. enquiries submitted on Friday afternoon will be actioned on Monday morning.
