State Library of Western Australia

Resources in Languages Other than English

About 70,000 items in 45 languages are available through your local Western Australian public library. Where's Spot? or Agatha Christie in Arabic, John Grisham and Stephen King in Italian, Dutch and Chinese, poetry, essays and biographies in Greek, Punjabi and Turkish, and novels in all the languages held.

The State Library aims to provide resources through public libraries in relevant community languages which recognise the cultural diversity of Western Australian society. We do this by supporting the needs of members of ethnic or linguistic groups with resources which help them maintain and develop their ancestral cultures and languages. At the same time this allows and facilitate equity of access to information regardless of culture and language, whilst maintaining the balance of the wider collection.
