Births. Use index - arranged alphabetically by first letter of the name, then by year, district and registration number. Note references then go to registers. Hobart has separate indexes and registers. Launceston and Country indexes - Launceston always listed first.
Deaths. Use index - arranged alphabetically by first letter of the name, then by year, district and registration number. Note reference then go to registers. Hobart has separate indexes and registers. Launceston has a separate index but the registers are in the same series as country districts.
Marriages. Use index - arranged alphabetically under the first letter of the name and then by year and registration number [no division by district]. Note reference then go to registers. There is a separate entry in index for male and female names but same registration number.
