Tours and Education Programs

The State Library of Western Australia is committed to enabling all Western Australians to meet their own needs in a rapidly evolving information world. We offer a range of interactive programs for school and community members of all ages incorporating the Library’s extensive collections and resources, including the J S Battye Library of West Australian History.

Education

The State Library of Western Australia has launched a new Education Program in 2008 that caters for all students in Pre-Primary to Year 12. Our programs complement the Curriculum Framework and may be adapted to suit the needs of your students.

SEaK - Community Education Programs

Search Engage and Know Your State Library
The State Library’s SEaK program of free tours and workshops will show you how to Search Engage and Know your State Library and introduce you to our resources and collections. As places are limited bookings are required for all sessions.

Tours

These tours can be for general information or to support more structured learning.  All tours and programs are free and bookings are recommended as places are limited.

Maps, music, microfilm and more – Discover that there are more than just books @ Your State Library
This free 50 minute tour of the State Library, will introduce you to the varied items collected and take you behind the scenes to some areas that are usually off limits to visitors.

Arcane artefacts: seldom seen sensations from the collections of the Battye Library
This white gloves tour conducted by one of our expert Battye Subject Specialists, is one of the few opportunities to see some of the rare and fragile items held in the collections of the State Library.

Tour Bookings & Enquiries
Free general public tours for groups can also be arranged by request. Tours are available between 9.30am to 4.00pm and must be booked a minimum of two weeks in advance.
