Media Release 17 Apr 2009
To celebrate the launch of the new dedicated area at the State Library of Western Australia, children and families are invited to the first ever Kids Day Out at the State Library.
The Place is the new refurbished area on the mezzanine level for children and families, and for the first time, the State Library will have a centre with resources and programs for children to explore books and stories.
The Kids Day Out is all about stories – special storytime sessions will be held throughout the day with celebrity readers; there will be original artwork from Australian picture books on display; and to discover more of the collection, families can head off on a self-guided Sneak Peek tour of the library.
Guess what Rove’s favourite book is? How many famous Australians liked The Magic Pudding? You can find out the answers at ‘My Favourite Children’s Book’ display, which also opens on launch day at The Place.
The Kids Day Out is being held at the State Library of Western Australia in the Perth Cultural Centre on Sunday 24 May from 10am – 3pm. All are welcome, no bookings are required. For more information call 9427 3173.
