WA Week is a once a year chance for all Western Australians to take part in a grand celebration of our past, present and future. Join the State Library of Western Australia in commemorating WA’s unique history, heritage and development while we applaud individual and collective achievements. All activities are FREE and some require bookings.


WA Week Lecture: Commemorating Western Australian History by Associate Professor Jenny Gregory

U3A and the State Library of Western Australia invite you to the inaugural WA Week lecture focusing on commemorations in Western Australia and their impact on the writing of our history.

On the trail of lost theatres

Join Ivan King as he recalls Perth theatres and cinemas of long ago (fleapits included). Immerse yourself in memories, highlighted by images from the State Library’s collection.

Two Thirds Sky

Filmed in desert locations across Australia, the film documents the creative process of five contemporary Australian artists, expressing identity and a sense of belonging. All welcome.

The State Library at Work: A behind the scenes tour

Join us for a walk through the backrooms and stacks of the library and discover what goes on behind our closed doors.

Telling Our Story: A white gloves tour of the children’s literature collection

Discover WA’s flora, fauna and history through picture books and novels from the Research Collection of Children’s Literature.
