Join us as we take you on a journey this Winter Arts Season. Explore your family’s past during National Family History Week, enjoy rainy day boredom busters during the school holidays, head on a book safari during Children’s Book Week, visit displays throughout the upper levels and discover The Place the new children’s space. There’s plenty of exciting things to see and do this winter at the State Library of Western Australia - so be sure to come and visit.
June- August 2009: The Place
Calling all children and families - come to The Place and share books, discover digital stories and enjoy illustrations from your favourite picture books.
4 July - 19 July 2009: School Holidays
Banish the boredom of long rainy days- learn something new and create something fabulous at our July school holidays program- you can even build your own city. Collect your trail from reception and discover the new children’s area The Place. See the” Biggest Book of Short Stories Ever”. All activities are FREE.
1 August – 9 August 2009: National Family History Week
Join us for an exciting week of presentations and tours. Library staff and volunteers from the Western Australian Genealogical Society will be on hand to help with your family history queries. 22 August – 28 August 2009: Children’s Book Week
Come and see the wonderful books created by the student winners of the Make Your Own Storybook competition, and admire the original artwork from Australian children’s picture books.

WAAPA free lunchtime concerts
As part of the City of Perth Winter Arts Season, WAAPA’s staff and students will perform a series of free lunchtime concerts and performances at the State Library. This will be the fifth year that the State Library will host the concerts which feature stars of the future.
