WA Films at the State Library
As part of the City of Perth’s Winter Arts Season, the State Library presents a series of films set in Western Australia through the decades. These free films will screen on Thursdays, and start promptly at 5.45pm in the State Library Theatre. The series commences with the chance to revisit the 80s with Windrider.
Windrider stars a young Nicole Kidman (back when she still had freckles) as a rock singer who finds romance with company executive and windsurfer, Tom Burlinson. Directed by Vincent Morton and filmed in Fremantle, this unabashedly cheesy celebration of the windsurfer culture captures a special time and place in our State’s history.

Under the lighthouse dancing was filmed on Rottnest Island and is the story of six friends over one tumultuous weekend. A testament to true love, it is based on real events, and stars Jack Thompson, Naomi Watts and Jacqueline McKenzie, directed by Graeme Rattigan. Enjoy some lovely Rottnest sunshine in the middle of winter.
